Have the McNaughton and would like to try Oneway coring

I bought a McNaughton Corrin set from Roger and have cored a handful of bowls with it. I would like to try the Oneway system to compare it to. From what I have seen, I think I would prefer the Oneway but would like to try it before committing to a switch. Any one have one I could borrow or even swap for a bit?

I can lend you mine for a couple weeks after this weekend. I have a 24" base and the #1 & #2 cutter sets. I don't have a dedicated handle - I use a 5/8 Thompson handle that i also use for my main bowl gouge, so that is the only thing I won't be able to lend. Also, I don't know if the clamp block will fit your lathe, so you might need to rig one up out of a block of wood or a chunk of steel plate.

Thanks Kevin. I think the block off my Oneway sphere jig will probably work, but I could figure something out if it doesn't.

Do you want to try out the McNaughton at the same time?

Sure, ill give the McNaughton a try. I can probably be available to make the exchange on Sunday. I'll send you a text on Saturday and we can figure it out.

    Hi Jason,

Do you still have the McNaughton coring tool? I have considered purchasing but would like to see it in action and try it out if possible.  I recognize it is nearly a year past your post but new to the group and thought I would give it a shot.

    Best regards, Steve

I don’t have the McNaughton anymore, I have the Oneway now. I like it a lot better. I did several bowls before switching, but this is so much simpler.

    Thanks Jason,

I have only watched vidieos on these two coring tools and really belive i should see them in action before I make the purchase decision.

My lathe is 24”. If my set matched your lathe I would have you try it out on your lathe.
