I found your name on the NWWT website. I have recently cut down a flowering, weeping cherry tree and wondered if someone in your group could use the resulting log for your woodturning work.
The log is 46 inched long and 11 1/2 inches in diameter, fairly straight. . It seems in good shape. No apparent rot etc. What I know of weeping cherry trees is that a cherry whip is grafted onto a root stock, allowed to grow (in this case to perhaps 5 feet and again grafted with weeping/cascading cherry stock. (Or so I’m told)
There are also some 12 to 18 inch “chunks” from the root flare and the cascading flare.
Anyway. I live in west Portland. Out HWY 26 to Rock Creek area (185th). I’m happy to donate it etc. Even deliver if needed.
And of course you could refer me to someone else who would have a use for it.. I was going to use the log as a sort of garden bed retaining wall.etc..
I could send a picture to a phone if that is helpful as well.
Thanks for your help.
