Large red oak tree, logs and rounds

A very large tree in my Hollywood District neighborhood in Portland toppled over a few days ago during the ice storm, and there are some very large logs and rounds available, already cut up. I picked out three logs this afternoon, very heavy for their size. The tree is in front of two houses, 2615 and 2625 NE 40th.

This is the posting on the “Nextdoor” app from yesterday:

The house behind us had a red oak come down in their yard this weekend, and there is some pretty wood in there. The owner said the arborist is planning to chip all of it, but that she would love for any artists to make something out of the larger pieces. The remaining trunk looks large enough for table sized slabs. She did ask that people *leave firewood sized pieces for her*, but she is giving away the rest until the arborist comes (which is tbd). We grabbed a couple rounds, but now I’m sorry I never took up bowl turning. Hoping someone can put some to good use! NE 40th, south of Knott. Disclaimer: I am not the homeowner, I just talked to her. If you’d like some, maybe knock and say hello and confirm.

    Attached are a few photos.

I am kind of surprised there are not a lot more posting like this. I don’t see much on Facebook either.
