For sale is a John Nichols lathe for turning very large pieces.

This lathe was custom manufactured by John Nichols of Stanfield, Oregon.   He wanted a variable speed lathe that did not lose torque at low speeds, and designed and manufactured these units from the late 1980s through 2004.  You can see his old website at  http://web.archive.org/web/20031213021234/www.nicholslathe.com

This machine was manufactured around 2000.  It has a 36 inch swing, variable speed motor with reverse (230v), and ABB power unit.  It comes with four tool rests and three face plates (1 for the vacuum system, 1 vicmarc 4 jaw chuck, one other.   The tool weighs around 2000 pounds, so should be transported by a safe mover or similar capability.

Asking price is $3900, negotiable.   The lathe is located in North Plains, Oregon.   Owner contact information is Jeremiah Atkinson,  Phone:  541-282-8090  eMail:  jeremiahatkinson@gmail.com

I saw this lathe during his garage sale. It is an absolute beast of a lathe.
