NWWT Sharpening Class - Q2-2024

Requirements and general information

• Students must be members of NWWT
• Class will be limited to 6 students - one per grinder
• Instructors are experienced NWWT members
• 6 Sharpening systems will be available
• Students bring their own PPE (face shields, dust protection)
• Coffee and snacks will be provided, but bring your own lunch

The objective of this 6-hour class is for you to go home with all your tools sharp, and have an understanding of how to replicate the grinds at home.

• 6 fully equipped sharpening stations are available
• Students may use NWWT tool sets if needed.

Class Agenda:

• The advantages and disadvantages of different tool steels
• Overview of the common methods of sharpening: grinders, grinding wheels, sharpening systems, and accessories
• Explain sharpening bowl gouges, spindle gouges, parting tools, scrapers, and skews
• Sharpening time at your grinders - Sharpen your tools with help from instructors and coaches
