  • Proof of vaccination required
  • Students must be members of NWWT
  • Class will be limited to 6 students (1 per Lathe)
  • Instructors are experienced NWWT members
  • Wood for the class will be provided
  • Students bring their own tools
  • Students bring their own lunch
  • Students bring their own PPE (face shields, dust protection)
  • Coffee and snacks will be provided
  • If you have any COVID related symptoms , please do not register or if you have symptoms on the day of the class, please let us know and a full refund will be sent.

The class will start at 8:30 with sharpening the tools required for the class.

We will have three sharpening stations and instructors to help you get started right.

This intermediate workshop focuses  on acquiring additional skills for use across a wide range of spindle forms. The instructors give each participant the opportunity to build a collection of work samples to take home and use as a visual guide to the practice and application of their newly expanded skill set.

The last hour is devoted to integrating each participant’s skill set by completing a project suited to the participant’s skill level and interests. Possible projects includa bud vase, tool handles, a dibble, a decorative finial, and legs for stools and benches, all of which make good departure points for learning other skills and making other projects.

Loaner tools will be available if you do not have these.

  • Spindle roughing gouge
  • Medium skew (1” or larger)
  • ½” or ⅜” spindle gouge
  • Parting tool 
  • Old-school vernier caliper (no dial) if available
  • 150mm/6” rule
